![]() Today is the day of Love. If you're in love then you're probably celebrating today, and if you're not then you're likely avoiding it. I had to run to the store early this morning and I walked into a sea of Valentine's balloons hanging from the ceiling. People everywhere buying up all the things "heart". Love was in the air, literally. What is this thing we call love? Webster's dictionary describes love as: 1a(1): strong affection for another arising out of kinship or personal ties maternal love for a child (2): attraction based on sexual desire: affection and tenderness felt by lovers After all these years, they are still very much in love. (3): affection based on admiration, benevolence, or common interests love for his old schoolmates b: an assurance of affection give her my love Is any of this love for you? I think it's hard to put into words what love is. Love is so many things. It presents in so many ways, and it can make you feel amazing that's for sure. For some people, love is represented by material things, and I guess in some moments that's true for everyone. My husband got me YELLOW ROSES to plant for Valentine's day. I have them planted and I'm so excited to get blooms! Of course, I love all the Farmhouse Style Things like THESE BASKETS that are about to go in the bottom of my pantry to hide the things I don't want showing. It's truly the little things sometimes that make you feel loved. My husband always buys me the cutest COFFEE MUGS because he knows just how to touch my heart. Love, love, love...it can be manifest in actual things that are bought for you, but it's also so many other things. Love is my child snuggling up close to me, closer and closer, just because she can't seem to get close enough to please her. Love is hand made Valentine cards with words spelled wrong, and beads glued to the inside. Love is my husband helping me dig, and move dirt and plant when his back hurts and he really doesn't want to do it. Love is my coffee made for me before I even ask. Love is a phone call from my adult son, just to check in and say hello. Love is all the many things my oldest daughter made for me for every occasion you can think of, from the time she was old enough to write until she moved out of our house. Love is my husband praying over me when I have anxiety, or stress, or physical pain. Love is everyone pitching in to help me keep our home nice, even when it's loved in and lived in daily. It's hard to write a simple definition of love. The Bible says, "And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them." 1 John 4:16. God is truly loving. In all your relationships, if God is first, love will abound. 1 Corinthians 16:14 says "Do everything in love.", and shouldn't we? I challenge you today to do all things in love. To embrace the one or the ones you love, and to approach your life with Jesus first so you can live your life with an abundance of love, period. I pray a wonderful Valentine's Day for you and your family, and I look forward to spending this little time with you again tomorrow. ![]() XOXO Jen <3
