Hey, y'all! So we're in the middle of a garage clean-out to get organized and all that good stuff, and I came across an old trunk I bought about 15 years ago and had once used for our daughter's toys. (Said daughter is now almost 15) Clearly, that need is long gone. But I was wanting a little table for my living room so I got an idea in my head I could create a table out of the trunk, and let me tell you, what a good idea that was!
Now, being that my life is basically a hot mess most of the time, you know me, I forgot to take the actual before shot. (rolls eyes) Hey, I do the best I can, but I did get a couple of shots as I was spray painting it. So what did I use on this project?
So, of all the things I used for this project the only things I didn't have were the correct size nuts and washers to hold the legs on and the stencil. So I spent about $6 total on those things.
First I washed the outside down really well with soap and water, and after it dried I spray painted it completely and let it dry. My husband drilled the four holes through the bottom for the legs so that would be done before I hand-painted it. I came back to it with a brush and used the latex paint to cover it better. I wanted it to have stroke marks and not look spray painted.
Then, after it dried I put the legs in place and put the stencil on the top. I painted the stenciled area, and then dry brushed the accents of brown all over the trunk and let it dry. I came back and dry brushed the legs with white and waited for them to dry completely.
Finally, I tightened the legs and sprayed the entire thing with spray lacquer. This project dried quickly and it was very easy to get this look. I love how it turned out, what about you? What do you think about it? Leave me a comment below and let me know. Please share this with your friends if you like it!
