We bought a new house 20 months ago, and I've struggled to fill it. I used to always decorate for the holidays, but when we moved to Florida almost 4 yrs ago, all that ceased. It wasn't because I didn't love it, it was because I simply didn't have the time or money. This year I vowed it would be different.
So I was out junkin' the other day and I came across a yard sale that had a few pieces I snatched up. One of them was a really odd item. It was a rectangular frame with a burlap insert and a big HUGE butter knife on it. It was marked $1 and the frame was real wood so I grabbed it and knew immediately I was turning that piece into an Easter upcycle.
I noticed when I got home the ugly thing had come from Kirkland's and it was $19.99 on sale. Wow! I got my husband's screwdriver and removed that old ugly butter knife that had been bolted onto the picture frame.
I then flipped the frame vertically and began to brainstorm! I needed something pretty simple since the frame was narrow. I opted for making this. I'll tell you how below!
Here's what you'll need to complete this project.
-Second, I cut the letters out and I Mod Podge them to the wood letters and sat them aside to dry.
-Third, I traced my bunny shape onto the backside of the moss sheet with a black SHARPIE and then cut it out.
-Fourth, I cut and tied a cute bow for the bunny's neck.
Then once my letters were dry, I laid it all out and decided where I wanted everything to go. When I was happy with the placement, I hot glued it all onto the burlap board. I decided once I was done that I wanted to add a bit of white accent paint to the frame, and so I did that after I had put it all together, but I suggest finishing your frame before you put your elements into it.
This little cute sign is going to sit in my living room among some other decor I'll likely end up making and talking about as well.
